Support Resources

Ministry of Health (MoH) has prepared a number of support resources pertaining to COVID-19:

  • For queries on COVID-19, members of the public can refer to the MoH website, www.moh.gov.my (Ask a Doctor) for advice from Family Medicine Specialists.
  • For those arriving from overseas, MoH has advised to not go directly to a government healthcare facility. Instead, members of the public can seek medical advice as follows:
    • Virtual Health Advisory @ www.moh.gov.my : 8.30am – 5.00pm daily
    • National Crisis Preparedness & Response Centre (CPRC) Hotline: 03-8810 200/ 600/ 700
    • After 5.00pm, DoctorOnCall at Doctor On Call or BookDoc at www.bookdoc.com

Sunway Pre-U FAQs

As part of the Movement Control Order (MCO) from 18th March to 12th May 2020, the Government has closed all universities and colleges in Malaysia. What does this mean?

Sunway College campus will be closed during the MCO and students/staff cannot attend/conduct classes on campus or participate in any other activities. The College residences will remain open to residents.

Do students still have to do online teaching/learning?

Yes. Classes are delivered online. Students are advised to check for details on their respective programme’s digital platform – E-learn, MS Team or Google Classroom.

Is attendance taken during online classes?

Yes, attendance will be taken and students are expected to adhere to their programme’s attendance policy.

Can students still come on campus to use computer facilities/ wifi/ library etc?

The library and teaching and learning facilities on campus will not be available. Students should not come to the campus. However, the Online Library will be available.

Do students have to vacate College accommodation/residences?

Residents can continue to stay in the College residences and will be given essential support services. For more information, contact 03-7652 5500.

What happens to my assessments and final exams?

Students are advised to check their respective programme’s digital platform for updates.

I am an international student. Can I return to my country?

Yes, you may return home. You should refer to the International Office for the latest updates.

If I need mental health counselling support, will it be provided?

Students who need mental health counselling support can call the Mental Health Hotline: 018-3893220.

What if the MCO period is extended?

The College will abide by government orders. You will be advised on what to do by your respective programme.

What if I can’t log-in, who can I contact?

For e-Learn system problems, kindly refer to the ITS hotline 0192438622. Alternatively, you may contact your respective lecturers using their email addresses.

When will the March 2020 Intake commence?

Online learning will commence from the week of 30th March 2020. Further information will be provided via email or announcement on your programme’s digital platform

What is the last date for student enrollment in the March Intake?

The last date to enroll for A-Levels, AUSMAT, CIMP and MUFY is 6th April 2020. The last date to enroll for SFP is 10th April 2020.

Can I transfer to another intake?

Yes, you can. No charges will be incurred. The next intakes are as follows:

I am an international student. Can I return to my country?

Yes, you may return home. You should refer to the International Office.

Who can I call if I need to speak to someone?

You may email your inquiries, specific contact numbers that can address your specific issue will be provided via email enquiry depending on the issue faced. General direct hotline numbers which should be available from Mondays – Fridays, 9am – 5pm.

Can I get a discount if I have to learn online?

No. The University aims to provide an appropriate teaching and learning experience through a variety of delivery methods and will provide the necessary resources irrespective of delivery method.

What if I can’t log-in, who can I contact?

FOR STAFF

Do I have to come to work during the MCO?

Staff are not permitted to come into the campus during the closure period, with the exception of those offering critical and essential services such as security staff. However, the University will continue to pay staff and will expect them to work from home as best they can under the circumstances.

Do I have to conduct online learning?

Academic staff are expected to prepare themselves for online teaching. In addition to the in-house training and support, other training materials for staff for online teaching has been shared by Pei San and also others via emails.

Can I postpone classes?

No. The semester is already in progress, all classes should run according to the agreed timetable online. Lecturers should work creatively to ensure teaching, learning and assessment can be delivered effectively in the current exceptional circumstances.

There will be no teaching or classes on the campus but via online instead during the MCO closure period (18th - 31st March). Students are advised to check their respective subjects’ announcement in STES elearn page for details

What happens to my final exams, Progress Test and Mock Examination?

All progress tests, mock examinations and on-demand computer-based examinations for all programmes of Sunway TES CAE scheduled during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period are postponed until further notice.

It’s hard to buy groceries/ supplies. What should I do?

Supermarkets and grocery stores will remain open and the government has confirmed there are adequate food supplies. It is expected that supplies will stabilise in the shops after the initial rush at the start of the MCO closure period.

What happens at the end of the MCO closure period?

The College campus will re-open on 1st April, unless there is any further restriction by the government.

What if the MCO closure period is extended?

The College will abide by government orders.
 

Is the library open?

The physical library will be closed but the Online Library will be accessible.

What about my attendance record?

In on-line teaching delivery, subject lecturers will specify the attendance expectation. Typically, attendance may be taken during online synchronous learning sessions. Please check with your subject lecturer for further information.
