MUFY students were on the roll in getting all geared up to showcase their talents at the annual MUFY Talent Quest held on 5th April 2019. This year however is extra special as MUFY at Sunway College KL celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Ms Cheng Mien Wee (Director, Pre-University Studies), Pn Adawiah Norli (Director, Sunway Diploma Studies and MUFY Director from 1999 to 2011) and Mr Lee Thye Cheong (MUFY Director) were present as honourable guests to launch MUFY’s 20th anniversary celebrations at the beginning of the event and stayed on as judges for the Talent Quest.

During the launch, Ms Cheng, Pn Norli and Mr Lee placed their hands on a ball which unveiled an exhilarating sound and light show. A walk down memory lane for the past 20 years (1999-2019) was then presented via a video of treasured photos.

After the launch. the Talent Quest then commenced. The audience of close to a thousand were entertained with a concoction of 15 solo and group performances consisting of singing, rapping, dancing, magic shows and those playing their respective musical instruments. There were also special guest performances by three MUFY alumni - Jishnu Pillay (2017 Intake) amazed the audience with his beat-boxing skills and Ryan Goh (2014 Intake) captivated the audience with his soulful voice while Ethan Wong (2016 Intake) played the guitar.

While the panel of judges deliberated on the winners, the audience was treated to two surprise staff performances in the form of a duet by Ms Helen and Ms Charity with impeccable vocals and heart rendering singing by Ms Michelle while she strummed her guitar.

Finally, after an arduous task of careful consideration, the judges had their winners. The second runner-up was Alyaa Menon who sang Lady Gaga’s A Million Reasons, the first runner-up was Loh Jia Quan who played Lindsay Stirling’s Take Flight on his cello and the winner was Chloe Liew who sang a mash-up while playing the guitar on her back.
