Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) is a globally recognised pre-university programme offered at Sunway College for more than 30 years. The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) of Western Australia, on behalf of the Government of Western Australia, oversees the quality implementation of the AUSMAT programme. Students are awarded the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) upon successful completion of the AUSMAT programme.

Mentor-mentee and Academic Advising programmes
Passed SPM, O-Level or equivalent with minimum five (5) credits including English.
Passed UEC with minimum three (3) subjects with Grade B including English.
English Language Requirement
For students without a credit or higher in English:
IELTS - Minimum score of 5.5 and Writing not less than 5.5 with no band less than 5.0 or equivalent.
Jan, March, April , June , September.
The AUSMAT programme is delivered over two semesters (January, March, April and June intakes) or three semesters (September intake).
Assessment and Examination
- 50% school-based assessment (quizzes, tests, assignments, presentations, practical tests and exams);
- 50% external examination
- March/April (for June intake only)
- November (for all other intakes besides June)
AUSMAT programme practises the blended learning approach which combines face-to-face instruction and self-directed learning via an e-learning platform and the internet. Teaching and learning happens through a dual-mode approach. With this approach students must bring their own electronic devices i.e. laptop or tablet.
Choice of Subjects
Students are required to take five (5) subjects from the list, including English or English as an Additional Language/Dialect.

What is Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)?
ATAR indicates your rank position in the total Year 12 school leaving age population who have sat for the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) worldwide.
Calculation of ATAR:
AUSMAT provides the benefit of calculating a student's score based on 'Best 4- ATAR' subjects. These scores are then ranked for the ATAR for university applications.
